Google Set to Become Largest Corporate Purchaser of Renewable Energy in the World

December 6, 2016 |Google – one of the first signers of the Buyers’ Principles – announced they will meet their 100% renewable energy goal in 2017, years ahead of schedule. This means direct purchases of 2.6 gigawatts of wind and solar globally, or as Google puts it, more than twice the energy it took to send Marty McFly back to the future. In 2017, Google will become the single largest corporate purchaser of renewable energy in the world. That’s a major success for our efforts, for other businesses looking to jump on the clean energy bandwagon, and for the planet.
