Renewable Energy Program Approved for Washington’s Largest Electric Utility

September 29, 2016 | Large buyers in Washington can now buy 100% of their electricity from specific renewable energy projects.

“More and more companies want energy that is affordable, reliable, and clean. This program is a concrete step towards accomplishing those goals,” said Letha Tawney, Director of Utility Innovation at World Resource Institute. “The UTC’s approval of this pilot program further bolsters the region’s clean energy reputation. We look forward to supporting its implementation and learning together from the results.”

“Programs like what the UTC approved today are what we’d like to see adopted across the country in order to meet the renewable energy needs of large customers,” said Bryn Baker, Manager for Renewable Energy and World Wildlife Fund.
